Why Historic Homes Are Different
Older brick homes were built with softer mortar — on purpose. That mortar is meant to be the "weak link" that absorbs movement and moisture, protecting the bricks themselves. If you repoint with modern hard mortar, it can actually crack the bricks. We use the right mortar mix for the age and type of your home.
What We Do
Mortar matching
We analyze your existing mortar and mix a batch that matches the color, texture, and hardness. Repairs blend in instead of looking patched.
Tuckpointing on historic brick
Careful repointing that removes only what needs to go and replaces it with the right material — no damage to the surrounding bricks.
Brick replacement
When bricks need to come out, we source matching replacements. We have access to salvage brick and period-appropriate materials.
Porch and stoop restoration
Front porches on older homes take a beating. We rebuild steps, columns, and walls to match the original construction.
Chimney restoration
Repointing, crown repair, and rebuilding from the roofline up — using materials appropriate for the age of the home.
